Who is Fence??? Gary L Purdie Sr, born and raised in Queens NY. I went
to school in Queens, as a kid I grew up witnessing the birth of hip hop growing up in Corona Queens was where it all started for me. At the age of 13 my dreams of being a host begins, Then the first person I seen hosting an event was Dr. Bob Lee. He came to my school, mind you, I was only in the 6th Grade. My Jr High school was having its first talent show.
I was sitting in the front row. Dr. Bob Lee came out with the microphone, and he started to talk to us. As the talent show went on Dr. Bob Lee
asked "Is there anyone in this audience who would like to help me host this talent show?? I jumped up out of my seat, and ran up onto the stage. I was ready to do my thing. Meeting Dr. Bob Lee for the first time in my
life, it blew my mind to meet the greatest Radio Station host of all time. After hosting my school’s talent show, I knew I was going to do this for a lifetime. I’ve worked with so many artists, signed and unsigned just too many to count, so I can give much credit to a lot of my friends who believed in me. I give credit to my cousin, the world’s most recorded drummer (Bernard Pretty Purdie). I give credit to my mom's Annie, who pushed me to promote talent shows with her. After moving to the South Bronx, I started making a name for myself, opening an after-school program for the youth and creating an internet radio performing station in Harlem Ny, next door to the Apollo Theater in the heart of 125th ST. I began writing for a few magazines in and out of NYC. I realized I had so much talent to share. I started teaching my friends how to do what I was doing. I have helped so many people in the music business and out side of the music business. I have seen the music business change over my years after being in the game more than 40 yrs. Now fast forward to my new venture in 2025, Let's welcome 98.3BPME "The Sound") to the list, here we go again.
